Suzette was born in Colorado but spent most of her life in St. Louis and in rural Missouri with relatives. She graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia. She has always enjoyed history and writing and has spent vacations traveling to historic sties. She has worked extensively with children and worked as a dorm parent in Arizona at American Indian Christian Mission.

Forgotten Sacrifices was inspired by the area in which I grew up and the times in which my parents and their aunts and uncles lived. Two of my great uncles served and were wounded in WWII and one of them helped liberate the camps in Germany. The main theme of the book is for everyone to remember and appreciate the sacrifices that others have made for us and replace hatred and prejudice with love. The atrocities of war were great but told through a child's eyes, Peter, it has warmth and hope.
